Yeah, the prices are arena prices with Junior’s Cheesecake surprising me the most at a $9.75 per slice warning. I can get an entire cheese Danish ring from one of the best bakeries I know for that price. Not a ‘slice.’

Did you just compare NY Cheescake & Cheese Danish?????

Seriously??

You just lost all credit as not only a cook but a NYer!!

I'm being completely honest, sincere, and blunt here...

This is not even an article about anything relevant! Dee, please stop writing about food and the cute little perks you get in the press box.

You are a hockey blogger, not a food blogger - SERIOUSLY.

We come to this site to chat amongst our Islanders brethren and use topics and points from your (actually more like Dan's) articles to start off a series of serious and not-so-serious debate.

I was at the game last night and you missed out on a plethora of different topics and points to make about the arena and the game.

How about Reinhart looking to really compete for a 9 game stint?

How about mentioning that there is only 300-400 seats that have bad sightlines but the other 15,500 for hockey are fan-facking-tastic?!

Maybe mention the horseshoe isn't bad at all? How about the grand view of the ice as soon as you walk into the arena?

I might consider finding a way to get your credentials revoked thats how bad this posting was...you aren't deserving of them at all. You won a little contest and haven't proved anything as to why you should continue to have said access.

Honesty hurts. You should take something from this and do something about it!

KcNYI you are clearly not a hockey fan if you think that anything was right about the game at Barclays. The only good thing to discuss was the food options.

The sight lines are beyond terrible. This can not be said enough while main stream media shoves a couple positive reviews to us. These are fans that buy single game tickets once in a while because they are there to drink and whatever. Not the real fans that have a clue as to what is happening. I sat center ice and couldn't see the close corners. Seats up high couldn't see the net. The place was just as difficult to walk through as it is in Nassau. The prices were twice that for a product that was terrible off the ice and on the ice we matched what the barclays had to offer... a bunch of garbage.

I wanted so much to like Barclays and made every excuse but none will do since it was that terrible for hockey. We knew this from day 1 when it was built for basketball and they cut corners for hockey.

I wasn't at the game at Barclays. But from what I've read in newspapers and on Twitter, you are in the vast minority. Most of what I read was that about 300-400 seats had bad sight lines, the rest had sight lines equal to or better than NVMC.

And please spare us with that "real fan" garbage. "Real fans" can go to a f**king pond and watch a game and enjoy it. Just because someone thinks the Barclays is an enjoyable watching experience doesn't make them any less of a fan of the team or the game than you are or anyone else is. It doesn't make someone "not a hockey fan". "Real fans" don't give a s**t about the arena. They care about what's going on on the ice.

And lets not pretend that there isn't a bad seat in the house at NVMC. Get stuck in that upper bowl where you have to watch the game on TV's in order to see anything and you're going to tell me that those sighlines are great? I've been at NVMC hundreds of times in my life and I've sat everywhere from the luxury boxes down to the glass. There are good seats and there are bad seats, just like everywhere else.

They're putting through good press. I had two groups of friends that went. They agreed with the guy above unfortunately. Of course there are good seats but from what I'm hearing there seems to be seem to be more bad ones than some of us want to think? I hear you on caring about what's on the ice but if you can't see it...

It's hard to find a bad seast in the Coliseum as far as sight lines. If you don't want to sit in one of the few obstruction seats spend an extra three bucks and you can see the whole surface

Again, without having been there, I sincerely doubt that there are a ton of seats in the entire place where "you can't see" the game. Yes, there may be some shots in the corners you can't "see", but I find it hard to believe that a $1B facility has more bad seats in it than good ones, regardless of the intent behind the design of the building.

Maybe the Barclays and Isles are using the press to inflate the arena, but its no worse than what's been going on with people coming out and saying the sightlines suck just because they're pissed off the team is moving to Brooklyn and not staying in Nassau. You were reading and hearing about "bad sightlines" and nonsense like that from fans on boards just like these before a single sheet of ice was placed on the Barclays' floor.

Half of these guys you hear bit*hing and moaning about sightlines had never stepped foot in the place before making a single complaint. Now, those same people think they're justified in saying what they were saying all along because they happen to go to a pre-season game at the place 2 years before the team officially moves there.

Bottom line: I think there is still a large portion of fans who are simply pissed off the team is moving out of Nassau and will complain about the Barclays Center as much as possible, justified or not.

agreed... as always people will find things to complain about regardless of it they are warranted or not...having not been there, i cant say whether or not there are tons of obstructed view seats but like you said, there was hundreds of millions of dollars put into a venue with the main purpose of it having seats that can see what is performing, something tells me they probably focused on people seeing.

i know, its built for basketball...give it a rest. it was game 1 of something that is totally new, let them figure out the little things that need fixing..but as always, cant please everyone.

I'm not saying there are no bad seats. I'm sure they're are some. Your buddies probably were sitting in then. What I'm saying is that I sincerely doubt the sightlines for the majority of the seats are bad. My guess (again, I haven't been there to sit in every seat yet) is that the vast majority of seats offer quality sightlines for hockey games.

But if you've paid attention at all since last October (and I'm sure you have because you're on this site as much as anyone of us paying attention to all things Isles), you have to know that many fans were bit*hing about this arena and its set-up well before the first sheet of ice was laid down. Those same people were the ones bit*hing about the commute, about the team leaving its "Nassau roots", etc. I take what those people are saying about the sightlines at Barclays with a grain of salt.

I'm just over the complaining. The team was never getting an arena in Nassau. The team was in danger of being moved out of state. Now, we have a long term committment to Brooklyn, keeping the team local in a Billion dollar facility and instead of focusing on the good, people have to bit*h about sightlines.

Oh I'm sure there are more good than bad ones. It's a brand new arena of course it's a step up from the Coliseum in a cleanliness' sense. That's no mystery. It is what it is and it's a better alternative than Quebec city.
